The boat has been named in honor of Hermes an Olympian god in Greek religion and mythology, son of Zeus and the Pleiad Maia. He is second youngest of the Olympian gods. Hermes is a god of transitions and boundaries. He is quick and cunning, and moves freely between the worlds of the mortal and divine, as emissary and messenger of the gods,  intercessor between mortals and the divine, and conductor of souls into the afterlife. He is protector and patron of travelers, herdsmen, thieves, orators and wit, literature and poets, athletics and sports, invention and trade.

It is the oldest traditional vessel and as well boat in the whole fleet of the Union Boatmen, in fact it has been built in 1967. It changed several owners but from when the union bought this boat everybody felt in love, amazing style and quality of the construction, the Hermes has been restored several times, the last one just one year ago, when we restored the entire hull. The boat has 2 wooden masts and white sails that make this boat elegant, traditional and unique in this category.
